What mattress firmness should I choose?

At Bed Republic, we offer several firmness levels ranging from balanced to extra firm, with our preference being.

Whether you prefer a soft welcome or firmer support (which is the most appreciated and which our mattresses are characterized in this sense), it is essential to choose a mattress that respects the natural alignment of your body and above all supports it.

How to choose your mattress according to your weight?

Weight is an important factor in choosing your mattress, as it influences the level of support needed for quality sleep.

At Bed Republic, we recommend firmer support for people with a larger build to ensure good support, while lighter builds may prefer softer support to avoid a feeling of rigidity.

Preferably, all body types, regardless of weight, should go for a firm mattress.

Our mattresses and mattress toppers support weights of up to 150kg/person.

How much weight can your mattresses support?

Our mattresses and mattress toppers support weights of up to 120kg/person for a double mattress (consistent with the fact that two people can sleep on it) and up to 150kg for a single mattress.

What is the difference between a memory foam mattress and an innerspring mattress?

What is the difference between a firm mattress and a soft mattress?

First of all, it is not advisable to take a mattress that is too soft.

At BED REPUBLIC, we do not offer soft mattresses, which do not effectively support the spine.

However, choosing between a firm and soft mattress depends on personal preferences for comfort and support, as well as specific sleep needs.

After all, tastes and colors are unique to each individual.

Firm mattress:

Optimal Support: Firm mattresses provide more pronounced support, making them ideal for people who need good spinal alignment, including back or stomach sleepers.

How can I extend the life of my mattress?

To maximize the durability and comfort of your mattress, here are some practical tips:

- Use a mattress protector: A mattress protector can protect your mattress from stains, moisture, and dust mites. This helps keep your mattress clean and fresh.

- Rotate and flip your mattress: If your mattress is designed to be flipped, do so every three to six months to prevent uneven sagging and ensure even wear. Even for non-reversible mattresses, rotating them from head to toe can help.

- Let the mattress air out: Let your mattress breathe by removing the sheets and leaving it exposed to the air for a few hours each week. This helps eliminate moisture and prevent dust from accumulating.

- Avoid jumping on the mattress: Even if it is funny, treat your mattress with care to avoid damaging its structure. Avoid jumping or making sudden movements on it, cuddling and lovemaking are widely allowed with a certain restraint all the same, without ulterior motives of course.

How to choose the size of your mattress?

Choosing the right size (of your mattress, eh?) is crucial to ensuring quality sleep.

A mattress that is too small can affect your comfort, while a suitable mattress allows you to move freely without disturbing your partner.

It is therefore important to take into account your body shape, your sleeping habits, and the space available in your room.

For optimal comfort, we recommend choosing a mattress that is at least 15 to 20 cm longer than your height.

If you are sleeping as a couple, it is best to choose a width of at least 160 cm to ensure enough space for everyone.

Remember, the more space you have, the better you sleep!

At Bed Republic we offer a wide range of sizes, from single to king-size mattresses and up to 200cm wide by 200cm long (200x200cm), as well as custom sizes (as special orders), to suit all needs.

Does a mattress affect the temperature of your room?

Although we often think of adjusting the heating thermostat or using a fan or air conditioning to regulate the temperature of the room, your mattress, as well as your bedding (box spring, sheets, pillows, duvets, etc.) also play an important role.

When it comes to mattresses, some mattresses can retain body heat, which can make your sleep less comfortable (this is not the case with BED REPUBLIC thanks to our technology), especially if you tend to get hot at night.

A mattress's ability to regulate heat depends on the materials it is made of.

For example :

Memory foam mattresses, while offering exceptional comfort, tend to retain heat due to their high density.

Spring and hybrid mattresses, thanks to their aerated structure, allow better air circulation, making them cooler.

Latex mattresses, especially those made from natural latex, offer a good balance between comfort and breathability, promoting cooler sleep.

What is the recommended height for a mattress base?

The recommended height for a mattress base is generally between 25 and 30 cm (feet included).

This ensures good support while making it easier to get into bed. The mattress will also influence the height, as a box spring that is too thin with a mattress that is too thick and heavy will also not be suitable.

However, this may vary depending on personal preference and mattress height.

Some have a low style, with a thin bed base and a very fine mattress, and conversely, you can find high beds, with more than 55-60cm high (mattress included) which will give you a hotel and palace look.

At BED REPUBLC, our box spring and mattress sets have a perfect balance in terms of height (between 45-60cm all inclusive), with a very short range of box springs:

Only 2 box spring heights: 13 and 20cm (excluding feet).

- 13cm+15 feet

- 20cm + 15cm feet.

What types of box springs can I use a Bed Republic mattress with?

Our BED REPUBLIC mattresses are compatible with most non-articulated and non-mechanical/electric bed bases on the market.

The choice of box spring can influence your comfort and the durability of your mattress.

BED REPUBLIC also offers box springs, but this is not a purchase requirement to use a BED REPUBLIC mattress.

Here are some tips to help you make the right choice:

- Slatted bases: Suitable for all types of mattresses, they promote good ventilation and are particularly recommended to improve the breathability of the mattress. If you suffer from back pain, a base with exposed slats can offer better support.

- Box springs: Ideal for spring mattresses, they are not suitable for foam or latex mattresses, as they may affect their performance.

- Electric bed bases: Our mattresses are not compatible with electric bed bases (unless otherwise specified...).

Remember that the box spring plays an important role in overall comfort, it is the "foundation" of your sleep, and represents about 30% of the firmness of the whole.

For more firmness, opt for a rigid slatted base.

If you prefer a softer bed, flexible slats are the way to go.

Again, tastes and colors are unique to each individual.

What are the dimensions of a mattress?

Do mattresses have odors?

Yes, as with all new products, your mattress may have a slight odor when unpacked.

This smell is usually due to the vacuum packaging, which preserves the freshness of your mattress.

It's the smell of new.

Don't worry, it is non-harmful as it is not related to chemicals or glues (we use water-based glues).

To get rid of this smell, we recommend airing the room where the mattress is located for a few hours.

The ideal is to simply air the mattress, if you can.

This will promote air circulation and help dissipate any residual odors quickly.

In case you have a latex mattress, a slight latex smell may also be felt, but it will dissipate in a short time.

Over time, it is normal for odors to appear due to perspiration and other factors.

To avoid this, we recommend regular maintenance of your mattress, including the use of a mattress protector.

Moreover, at Bed Republic, we are committed to using high-quality materials, without harmful chemicals, in order to guarantee healthy and restful sleep.

Is there a summer side and a winter side?

We have two sides: One side with a softer filling, and one side that is much firmer.

We can call them "summer side" and "winter side", because this is still a common practice among some traditional manufacturers and an indelible marketing since the 1970s in our customer consciousness.

They can also be described as soft/balanced side (winter) and very firm side (summer).

And indeed, our body, depending on the seasons, does not have the same expectations in terms of sleep regeneration: for cocooning in winter, we will opt for a softer side; for sports activity and heat, we will opt for a much firmer side in summer.

However, just because the seasons change doesn't mean we have to change the side of our mattress.

It's a question of taste, and our mattresses are designed to be used on one side only... for their entire lifespan.

It is therefore not an obligation to use a summer or winter side, it is a concept that we can almost call marketing, but well anchored in our culture!

Our mattresses are designed with innovative materials that allow optimal temperature regulation throughout the year, so use the side you prefer, if you wish, even all year round (provided you air it well).

Important point: changing sides is also good for "airing" your mattress, but this should in no case be an obligation.

How do you recognize the summer/winter sides?

In some of our mattresses, this is clearly indicated on the label: in writing or in the form of symbols.

It is also possible that this is not indicated.

But, by definition, the summer side is the firmest.

By default, therefore, the winter side - or all-season side - will be more flexible.

A final case is that of mattresses with front brand labels: once the label is on the right side, it is the winter side. And so a label on the wrong side will be the summer side...

How do I unpack my mattress?

Unpacking your BED REPUBLIC mattress is quick and easy!

But it is FORBIDDEN to use any sharp tool or utensil. Your hands and a little elbow grease are enough. Using a sharp object can cause irreversible damage to your mattress.

Here are the steps to follow:

- Preparation: Place the mattress in the room where you want to install it. Note that our mattresses can be heavy and bulky, so it is strongly recommended to use a second person, especially for its installation.

- Unpacking: Take the mattress out of its box and slide it out. It is a "rolled tube"...

- Removing the packaging: Use your hands to remove the adhesive tape securing the recyclable plastic that compresses the mattress. Remove the plastic in its entirety.

Although we would like to eliminate this plastic, it is necessary to protect the mattress during transport.

- Unrolling: Unroll the mattress on a flat surface, highly recommended on the bed where it is to be positioned, and position it correctly on your box spring/bed/bed frame.

Avoid installing it directly in its favorite place.

Warning: once the plastic has an air intake, the mattress will decompress, and this very rapid phase can be quite surprising: the mattress will take on a considerable volume in a few seconds.

Better not be in an elevator when this happens if you know what I mean! because the mattress will regain its full volume (not to be reproduced or opened in an elevator!).

-Rest time: Let the mattress regain its shape.

It may take a few hours or even a few days, but you can usually sleep on it the same night.

To help with this process, feel free to lift each corner slightly and shake it gently, or even lay directly on it. The fact that the mattress is used will also give it back all of these qualities, in the coming weeks of your use.

We have chosen to deliver our mattresses rolled and compressed to facilitate their transport and minimize the bulk.

Remember to recycle the packaging plastic after unpacking.

At Bed Republic, we are continually working to find more sustainable alternatives for our packaging, with materials here 100% recyclable.

I don't like my new product, is this normal?

Yes and no.

The feeling of novelty, especially in an environment like sleep, can be annoying. Let's not jump to conclusions, wanting to return your product from the first night: if for example our mattresses are firmer than your old mattress, it's normal and it's "better" for your health, and this unfortunately, can only be verified over time...

The feeling of novelty can only be beneficial.

I opened and installed my mattress, but I want to return it, what should I do?

Returns are the responsibility of BED REPUBLIC under the 60-night trial guarantee.

Returns are at your expense - outside/after the 60-night guarantee, but also for all products not eligible for the 60-night trial guarantee.

Beyond this period, we do not accept returns for hygiene reasons after this period.

If purchased through a reseller, the seller's terms and conditions apply, and we do not provide any reseller with the return conditions present on our BED REPUBLIC website.

By default, for all returns not guaranteed by the 60-night trial guarantee, the legal period of the right of withdrawal applies (14 days), the return costs of which are your responsibility.

I received my product, but I have a doubt about the size, should I open it?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

An open mattress is much more expensive to return!

Bed linen or bath linen are considered “used” and therefore cannot be recovered if they have been opened and used.

If in doubt, do not open, if necessary contact us (optional if necessary), and prefer to return it to our facilities in its original packaging, UNOPENED.

Delivery

How long can I expect delivery?

48h express delivery and quality often do not go together. If you want quality, freshness and price, you have to be a little patient.

This is how the luxury industry works: you place an order, then you receive it once it is made.

Between 1 to 5 weeks, depending on your order, your country and delivery area.

We are on an average lead time of around 2-3 weeks.

All this is indicated in your basket, before confirming your order.

Is it normal that my delivery is taking so long?

YES, it all depends on what you call long...

Between 1 to 5 weeks, it depends on your order: this is indicated when you place your order.

You will receive:

An order confirmation email

A shipping confirmation email with a tracking number for your order – long after your first order confirmation email.

An email containing your invoice.

So between these two emails of confirmation and sending of order, panic!!! no more news!!! they forgot me!!! well no, know that we do not forget anyone…

Because Important point: nothing seems to happen between the time of the order and the delivery, this is normal because WE WORK to make and ship your product. If it can reassure you, send us an email, we will answer you ... but know that we do not forget any order.

Ps: The comments of "it's long" or "it's normal that it takes so long" - YES, BED REPUBLIC if you haven't understood, it's a bit like choosing a real restaurant with a promising and passionate chef... or fast food. Well, BED REPUBLIC is not fast food, or fast fashion HOME that delivers in 15 minutes flat.

I have a problem with the delivery, or after my delivery, what should I do?

We already know, you don't like problems, it's the same for us, we hate it.

But as your friend said, that's life. And problems - unfortunately - can exist, even if at BED REPUBLIC, we do everything to ensure that there are none!

To say that there never are any would be lying to you (even if we would like to): since 2022 we have had a problem rate of around 0.62% of orders placed... so not much.

It is this 0.62% that our logistics, purchasing, after-sales service, management team... in short, everyone, tries to reduce on a daily basis.

And then you just have to look at our customer opinions:

So you and we have to do our best to avoid having any.

What should I do if I only received part of my order/partially my order?

Don’t panic, this could be completely normal.

Indeed, depending on the size and your products, but also its place of shipment, each of the elements of your order may be delivered by different carriers.

Transporting a 50kg box spring is not the same as delivering a lightweight feather pillow.

They are not the same people, not the same teams, not the same carrier, not the same vehicles (and also not the same biscuits).

Example of the most common case is: I received my box spring but not my mattress.

This is NORMAL! Each of these products will be delivered by different companies and delivery systems.

Another example: I just received a duvet and pillow, where is my box spring?

So to explain it to you better in pictures:

Try to imagine your postman on a bicycle, who is going to deliver a pillow in his very light package...

So your long-awaited box spring, it's certain that he's not going to fit on his luggage rack...

It will be another company, with a big truck and two people who will come and deliver it to you.

Do you see it better now?

I ordered from a third party site, a reseller, a distributor, should I contact you???

NO.

And it is important to respect it.

First you must contact your reseller, we cannot "contractually" communicate with you directly.

We don't even have your information, we don't actually know you - NOT -... so it's hard to help you...

And this applies to all types of problems: delivery, quality, after-sales service, etc.

If this is the case, contact your reseller who will be your sole point of contact.

Our team will probably do what is necessary (with the reseller, not with you) to resolve your problem.

My delivery of a rolled compressed mattress: what you absolutely need to know, and what you absolutely must read after having a mattress delivered.

Above all, BEFORE opening a rolled compressed mattress, check CAREFULLY that everything is ok.

Because once the compressed rolled mattress is opened (and decompressed), it is much more difficult to manage this product, logistically speaking.

So (and this is IMPERATIVE again):

A mattress is not the latest sweater in size M or L that I try to see. Beyond even hygiene, it is extremely complex to treat it logistically speaking an open and decompressed mattress.

  • The size (which is important here): Check carefully before ordering, but also at the time of delivery, that your bed is the exact size of the mattress ordered.
  • The size (which is once again important here): Check the label carefully to make sure that the size indicated is the one ordered.
  • Be sure to remove any other mattresses from the bed or box spring.
  • When ordering a bedding set, make sure that the box spring is the same size as the mattress, and vice versa.

We repeat because it is mandatory upon delivery: once opened, the mattress will be much more complex and expensive to manage logistically speaking.

This can lead to very high transport management costs.

If in doubt, do not open, if necessary contact us (optional if necessary), and prefer to return it to our facilities in its original packaging, UNOPENED.

I would like delivery to the room of my choice, is this possible?

YES,

By default, our delivery is to the door.

Premium delivery to the floor or room of your choice. This is optional and involves an additional cost for this service, which will be established by specific quote, after study of the case.

To do this, please contact our customer service help@bedrepublic.fr who will study your request.

I would like to return a product, what is the procedure?

First of all, you need to:

- Confirm that your purchase was made directly on the website www.leonis-literie.com. If this is not the case, check the conditions with your seller/reseller.

Returns are the responsibility of BED REPUBLIC under the 60-night trial guarantee.

Returns are at your expense - outside/after the 60-night guarantee, but also for all products not eligible for the 60-night trial guarantee.

Beyond this period, we do not accept returns for hygiene reasons after this period.

If purchased through a reseller, the seller's terms and conditions apply, and we do not provide any reseller with the return conditions present on our BED REPUBLIC website.

By default, for all returns not guaranteed by the 60-night trial guarantee, the legal period of the right of withdrawal applies (14 days), the return costs of which are your responsibility.

Do I need to take out transport insurance in the event of a return?

When returning an item at your expense, it is STRONGLY recommended, to avoid any carrier dispute, to insure your shipment for at least the value of your order. This will give you the assurance that a package that may hypothetically be lost, can be valued at its value.
